Congratulations on winning your primary in the Democratic Party. As your Republican opponent, I am formally challenging you to publicly debate me six times during the upcoming weeks until the general election on November 2. Voters in Minnesota s 4th Congressional District deserve to see the candidates for U.S. House of Representatives debate their ideas for addressing the issues facing our nation. With national unemployment continuing to hover around 9.5% and our national debt approaching unsustainable levels, Minnesotans are looking for realistic answers to our problems. Voters deserve the opportunity to see and hear our competing views on the growth and direction of the federal government. Open Letter to Congresswoman Betty McCollum, Who Prides Herself on Her "Common Sense"

Betty McCollum from Minnesota's Fourth District was one of 36 members of Congress, all but three Democrats, who recently voted against the House resolution condemning the Goldstone report. According to her website, "Congresswoman McCollum brings a common sense, Minnesota perspective to her work".

On January 9 of this year, when Operation Cast Lead was underway, McCollum, in a speech before the House of Representatives, stated:

"Despite the fact too many Israeli citizens are under great stress from Hamas rockets, these weapons do not represent an existential threat to Israel. Rather than a serious military challenge, these rockets are like a drug gang that uses drive by shootings as a tactic to terrify a neighborhood. When is the solution to this type of terror for authorities to lay waste to the neighborhood?"

McCollum claimed in her speech that "after 13 days of warfare it is reported by officials in Gaza that more than 750 people are dead, of which 40 percent are women and children." The Israeli Defense Forces at the end of the operation stated that of 1,166 Gazans who died in the operation, 709 were Palestinian combatants, 295 were male non-combatants, 49 were women and 89 were children.

Betty,

When voting against the House resolution condemning the Goldstone report, you declared: "American-made white phosphorus shells were used by Israel in civilian areas causing horrible burns to Palestinian children, yet thiPublish Posts resolution refuses to seek the truth?"

You want the truth? I also want the truth? Where were you when more than 10,000 mortar shells, rockets and missiles were fired from "civilian areas" in Gaza at civilians in southern Israel from 2001-2009? Did you ever visit the Israeli children who lost limbs from these attacks? Would you and your family be willing to live almost a decade under such fire? Think about it: Israeli children wet their beds rather than venture out of their safe rooms, because they had only 30 seconds from the sound of an alarm to return to safety.

Did you bother to read the entirety of the Goldstone Report? You obviously did not. Apparently it doesn't bother you that the members of this commission had already declared their enmity to Israel before the "investigation" had begun.

Does it bother you that the allegations of Hamas were accepted by the Goldstone commission without validation or verification? It was also alleged by Hamas that Israel is distributing aphrodisiac chewing gum in Gaza to subvert the morality of Gaza's youth. Shall we also seek the truth of this allegation?

Does it bother you that the charter of Hamas calls for the indiscriminate murder of all Jews?

Does it bother you that members of the rival movement of Hamas, Fatah, were murdered by Hamas before and during Operation Cast Lead? Some were thrown to their deaths from the tops of buildings.

Did you ever examine the casualty reports validated by Israel, or perhaps you don't believe the figures provided by American allies? Yes, civilians died - war is a terrible thing - but they were a fraction of the number of civilians who died in Iraq, Afghanistan and Serbia, owing to the measures taken by Israel to safeguard human lives.

Have you ever witnessed the aftermath of an "honor killing" in Gaza? Recently a Gaza man bludgeoned his daughter with an iron chain, because his daughter - a 27-year-old divorced mother of five - owned a cell phone and spoke to a man outside the family. Such murders go vitually unpunished by the authorities in Gaza, i.e. Hamas. These are the same authorities in whom Goldstone placed his trust.

You pride yourself on your "common sense"? You should be ashamed of yourself.

Betty McCollum Supports Hamas!!! NOT Israel!!

Betty, I think you know from reading my blog I served my country honorably in the Air Force.  I served all around the world, and worked with many different countries.  The one country I really wanted to work with, I never got a chance to, but while deployed to a forward base in Egypt, I got to see the result of this countries work.  That country is Israel.  Growing up and reading about their military, I had a deep respect for them.  Stuck between countries that want to eliminate them, they take care of themselves, and along with Great Britain they are our greatest ally.

Israel is a country that during the first Gulf War suffered 100's of Scud missile attacks from Iraq where many CIVILIANS were killed.  But they didn't do anything because George Bush asked them not to, that we would take care of them.  Israel is a country that right now Iran threatens.  Surrounded by enemies, Israel thrives.  Yet you condemn Israel for their RIGHT to block the flotilla to Gaza, which is ruled by Hamas.  Do you dislike Israel?  For pete's sake, Hamas is a sworn enemy of Israel!!!  Let's review what you wrote.

Rep. Betty McCollum (D-Minn.) also condemned the attack Tuesday. "While the U.S. supports Israel's security, it is impossible to comprehend or make excuses for Israel's decision to confront and kill civilian activists," she said. "This unnecessary and preventable incident demands a comprehensive investigation by the international community fully supported by the United States."


Those "activists" fired on the Israelis first!!!  Betty, you were in such a hurry to judge and condemn Israel that you talked before you had the facts.  The cargo of the ships included medical supplies as well as weapons such as knives, clubs, slingshots, bulletproof vests, gas masks and night vision goggles.  I know from my experience in the service that the things they found were not toys, but were of military value.  Hmm, what use would Hamas, a sworn enemy of Israel have for bulletproof vests, gas masks and night vision goggles?  I do, it was part of my equipment!!!  


I find it appalling that you would deny our ally like this.  Even in this video, you admit Hamas fired 1,000's of rockets at Israel, but you want Israel held accountable for responding to a guerrilla army sworn to kill jews and supports terrorism...





More evidence you don't support Israel.  


In January 2009, in a resolution to support Israel (which passed 390-5) you were one of 22 to vote "present" (along with Keith Ellison), which in affect is as good as a NO vote.  Way to go Betty, I am sure the Jewish voters of MNCD4 appreciate your support.  Did you talk to any of them about how you should vote, or was this your liberal ideals type of vote?  Going on your track record of communication with your constituency, I am willing to bet you didn't talk to anyone from MNCD4.

Betty McCollum is a Big Hypocrite!!!

On Sep. 23, 2008 Betty McCollum speaks before congress and says America faces the biggest financial crisis since the great depression and complains about Bush bailing out a bank.  That was the first bank that the US bailed out (not saying we shouldn't have bailed out the bank, but the government found out on Saturday morning, and if they would've let the bank fail Monday the markets would've been in the crapper.  I'm all in favor of letting the banks fail, but this was uncharted territory for the government; not to mention, the reason the banks failed was because of bad loans they made to meet homeownership quota's Clinton and Barney Frank setup in the mid-90's so everyone could own a home; even if they didn't have the money to afford one...you know, every citizen and illegal should realize that dream).



Betty, January 4th, 2007, the Democrats took control of Congress, and since then the National Debt has increased almost $5 trillion (since the Dems controlled congress, you could've prevented the spending)!!!  BETTY lets review what YOUR DEMOCRAT CONTROLLED CONGRESS has added to the national debt through:

1. Stimulus packages - FAIL
2. Obamacare which costs more then you said it would - FAIL
3. High unemployment which requires extened UI benefits - FAIL
4. Bailout of Auto Industry - Ford didn't take the bailout and look at them...hmm, capitalism at work? All America got was the Chevy Volt!!! - FAIL

At the time you ask Where is President Bush, and to come before congress and the American people because he has an obligation to explain to them why he needs to spend the money.  As I watch this, I can't believe what a HYPOCRITE YOU ARE!!!  Your constituents are asking the same thing about you Betty McCollum; Where the hell are you?  Why aren't you calling out Obama like you called out Bush?  He golfs while oil is spilling into the gulf (4 vacations since April if I am counting correctly), illegals are invading our country, unemployment is at record highs and his and your ratings are below the Mendoza line, yet you don't call out Obama.  But forget Obama, where are you? Where is Betty McCollum?  Your constituents want to talk to you, and ask why you are spending OUR money like a drunken sailor. 

Betty, at the time, you wanted to hold Bush accountable to Congress and the people, we WANT to hold you accountable.  Talk to your constituents.  DO YOUR JOB, you were elected by the people, and we expect you to legislate for the people and talk to the people.  Why are you hiding?  We have lots of questions Betty...

Based upon this speech you gave, you are a HYPOCRITE BETTY McCOLLUM!!!  Do your job and talk to your constituents!!!  Or are you afraid to talk to your constituents?  You are on recess now, will you hold PUBLIC TOWNHALLS? Or will you sneakily setup controlled townhalls and release details by press release 30 minutes before the event like you did a couple months ago (you only took 3 questions at the nursing home)...LETS TALK BETTY!!!

Have I Mentioned Calling Betty McCollum's Office is Useless?

As a constituent of MN CD4, Betty works for me, but calling her office is a painful experience.  I have called a number of times, and each time it feels like they are defensive, and they are very allusive on their answers.  


So I called this morning, and a young intern answered the phone, and I said I have a couple questions for Betty.  He asked what are they.


Me - What is Betty's stance on maintaining Bush's tax cuts?  


Betty's office - I believe she is in favor of letting some expire.   


Me - Let some expire, or all?  


BO - Not sure, I can see if the person who works on that is available.  They aren't available.  


Me - When will they be available?  


BO - I can pass your comments along to Betty.  


Me - Why can't the person who handles the tax cuts for Betty call me back?  Betty will get back to you (I've heard this before, and of all the calls I've made and emails I sent, I have only had one response, a form letter on Obamacare which didn't address the questions I asked).


Me - So I give name, but never got to address as he asked if I had a comment.  


Me - So I said, don't let them expire, keep extending them, as they helped pull us out of possible recession in 2001.  


BO - I believe we are in a recession now (he was in grade school back then by his voice).  


Me - I said tax cuts stimulate.  


BO - Well Betty believes they added 1 trillion to the debt.  


Me - And these stimulus's that haven't work haven't added to it?  Fine, I'm not going to explain economic theory to you (you can't have a serious conversation with a liberal when you have facts...I actually feel sorry for the kid.  Probably right out of college, and he is working in Betty's office getting complaints).


Me - When will Betty finalize the budget?  


BO - It is up in the air.  


Me - What is the Timeline?  


BO - Don't know.  


Me - Will it be done before the election?


BO - Don't know.


Me - Ok, is Betty holding a townhall when home on break?


BO - Don't know, you need to call the local office


Me - Ok, thanks


So I call the local office, and they say they can't answer that, that I need to call the election office 651-603-1505.  I call the election office, and they say to call the district office.  Call back to the district office and get someone else.  


Me - Is Betty is holding any townhalls when she is home on break.  


BO - You need to call campaign office with campaign questions


Me - This isn't a campaign question, I am a constituent, and want to know if Betty plans to meet with constituents when she is home.


BO - I don't know, nothing is planned, but when it is, it will be put out in a press release, and posted on her website.  Do you know her site?


Me - That is how I got your #


BO - Then check there to see when


Me - Can't I call you?  


BO - Yes, but I just gave you the resources


Me - Thanks, but I will call again


This was a real trying experience, and writing it down was even more painful.  You can't get an answer from her team, and they are kind of snarky.  Wonder if that is because they get so many calls that are negative?  I would lean towards getting negative calls, as I haven't heard anyone say anything positive about Betty.  So basically Betty is coming home in a couple days, and has no plans to meet with constituents; the people she works for!!!


Try this yourself, give Betty a call with a couple questions.  Here are some suggestions...

1. Will Betty meet with constituents when she is home?
2. Will Betty debate Teresa Collett? (wish I would've asked this one)
3. Will Betty support extending Bush's tax cuts?
4. Why did Betty omit "under God" when she led the Pledge of Allegiance?

Myth: Reduced tax rates on those earning over $200,000 caused deficits.

The establishment politicians and commentators who make this claim expect you to conclude that the rich paid less income tax after the Bush tax tax rate reductions than before.   This chart, showing the most recent figures available from the IRS tells the truth.

As the chart shows, revenue from the top group was falling each year until the Bush tax cuts were enacted in 2003.  Then revenue increased every year until taxable small business profits were hit by the recession that began in 1988.

If government had collected less tax revenue from “the rich” – mostly small business owners – after the rate reductions they might deserve a share of the blame for deficits.  But in fact, the rich paid more – a lot more.

The establishment elite demonstrate their understanding of the disincentive effect of taxation when they call for taxes on choices and behaviors they dislike.  They advocate:

• Higher gasoline tax to “nudge” us out of cars and into mass transit;
• Taxes on sodas and sweets to keep us from getting fat and burdening their government dominated health care “system.”

But those same elites scoff at the obvious disincentives inherent in high income tax rates.   The income tax is a tax on risk-taking, saving, investment, and productive work – all the activities necessary for job creation.

Because higher rates on “the rich,” especially small business owners, discourage work, saving and investing, the people they are designed to target respond by curtailing business activities and thus earning less taxable income.   As a result, higher rates don’t necessarily generate more revenue.  Lower rates are less of a barrier to risk-taking, investment, business expansion and hiring, all the activities that generate more taxable profits.

In fact, as this chart shows, after the tax cuts of 2003 the deficit declined, as the rich paid more income tax.This is not the first time higher income folks paid more income tax after a rate reductions.  During the Reagan Administration there was a series of phased in rate reductions from 1981-83, and another rate reduction in 1986.  The results:

• In 1980 there were eight tax brackets and the highest was 70%.   People earning more than $200,000 reported a total of $36 Billion in income and paid $19 Billion in tax.
• In 1988 there were only two tax brackets, 15% and 28%.  The over-$200,000 group reported $353 Billion in income and paid $99.7 Billion in tax.

Over eight years taxable income reported by “the rich” rose 881% and income tax collected from them rose 425%!  But even though the government was the beneficiary of this huge windfall the political-media establishment still promotes the deception that the Reagan tax cuts caused deficits.

Here it is obvious she intentionally OMITS "under God" from the Pledge of Allegiance. At the time, her staffers claimed she took a breath...uhm, yeah that's it. Betty, here is what I think...due to the nature of the Bill before you, that somewhere in your liberal head you did this intentionally to make a point!!! We don't believe you!!!

What is really pathetic about this, is Betty was leading the House in the Pledge of Allegiance, and is a Roman Catholic!!!  This is on CSPAN!!!  It's not like she was at her little desk in the back, or holding Nancy Pelosi's notepad, but she was leading the HOUSE in the Pledge of Allegiance!!!  Free speech is one thing, disrespect to your position, the Flag, God and the American people is another.  Pathetic Betty, absolutely pathetic...Remember in November!!!

Ok, this is one of the most pathetic things I have seen from Betty McCollum. I find this disturbing beyond any reasonable sense of imagination. When I was a young man, I enlisted in the Air Force. I did so out of Patriotism, and the desire to serve my country. Just like those who went before me and those that came after, we all took this oath of enlistment...


I, (name), do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; and that I will obey the orders of the President of the United States and the orders of the officers appointed over me, according to regulations and the Uniform Code of Military Justice. So help me God.

Congress takes an oath of office, which is very similar...

I, Name, do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office on which I am about to enter. So help me God.

Now I have only lived in Betty's district for 2 1/2 years, and this vote took place in her 2nd term, so I am wondering how in the hell this could be overlooked for so long. In Betty's Oath of Office, she swears to defend the constitution; but Betty voted against a bill which could challenge the constitutionality of The Pledge of Allegiance. What kind of American would even consider this? I asked my kids if they said The Pledge of Allegiance everyday, and they said yes; why? I said Betty McCollum, our Representative voted against The Pledge of Allegiance. A look of horror went across my sons face, and he said, "Doesn't she love our country"? Good question son, that is why there is a Teresa Collett sign in the front yard.

As a member of congress, how could one Vote against The Pledge of Allegiance? Why would one even consider it? I belong to a VFW in the district, and I will be sharing this at my post, and will travel to all other posts within the district to let them know how Betty voted on this. If you look at how many co-sponsors are on this bill, it appears over half the House co-sponsored it.

We live in the greatest country in the world, and one of the many things that make this country great is our freedom of speech (like this blog; Betty is working on this blog with me, she provides the material, and I write it. Works out nicely). When I see some clown desecrating the flag or speaking out against our country, I get bent out of shape, but then my gal reminds me I served so that they could have their freedom of speech; she is correct. If you were to ask our men and women serving today in harms way what their thoughts were, they would tell you that they are serving to protect your right to free speech.

Betty was elected to make decision's for MN CD 4 (not by me, but I have to live with it). Betty is supposed to vote what the district wants, but since she doesn't talk to the district, it is hard to believe she knows what the district wants; it appears she votes as to what Betty wants. We are lucky we live in a democracy, because we can PROTECT our country from those that don't hold our interests and values, and VOTE THEM OUT IN NOVEMBER!!! BYE BYE BETTY!!!
